Weigh scales attached to RMS in Australia

Hi All,

Does anyone know anything about whether Microsoft will be making the next version of RMS compliant with the new Australian legislation regarding the operation of Weigh scales at POS. The current version with latest service packs does not comply with current National Measurement Institute regs so cannot be used legally in Australia with scales. Any info would be very helpful as there are a lot of clients in this situation and we would like to find some form of resolution.

Many Thanks

Richard

    Hi Richard

The NMI requirement reflects many aspects of the POS, Pole Display, Tare Weight and 2nd Display (if you use it).  The RR Utility version 17 has RR Touch user interface integrated that complies to all NMI requirements.  Height of characters, etc...   I can arrange for you to download this and ask someone to teach you how to configure it.  The NMI is made for a type scale not a brand.  So all fruit and meat scale are covered in this certification.  Additionally variable tare weight is supported.  Contact me by email afshin@rrdisti.com

    Hi Tony,

I wasn't suggesting that Microsoft carries out the certification but in order for a partner to apply to the Australian NMI for certification the software is required to behave in a certain manner and provide certain functionality. At present RMS does not do this. It falls short in a number of ways. I would be very interested to find out how Retail Realm got around the issues. I have been contacted by Louis and have responded but have not heard any further. I would really appreciate some detailed info on what add-ons from RR are required

and how they have been configured.

    Cheers

    Rick

    HI Richard,

I do not believe there are any plans by Microsoft to carry out the certification.  This has traditionally been a partner / ISV led initiative.

Retail Realm has successfully achieved accreditation (2013) from the Australia NMI, for Retail Realm RMS Utilities - Store / RR Touch in conjunction with Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0

This module license is supplied free of charge to customers on a current BREP type support plan.  For further details, I suggest reaching out to my colleague Louis Piedra  louis@rrdisti.com who can assist further.

    Many thanks
