Can we create a credit note in Dynamics 365 without returning the quantity ?

You can not create a credit note without inventory transaction. But you do not need to create a receipt. You may use return reason codes to manage the credit note.

Hello Billur,

Thank you for your answer. I am working on credit note for a vendor, and I cannot choose a return code, the field is grayed. Could you help with activating return codes on purchase orders? Or it works only on sales orders?

Hi,

What do you mean by without returning qty?

Is it like you are sending credit note and still going to use that inventory? Or you will scrap that in your warehouse and won't return but still need the money back from vendor?

If this is the case, you can either follow quarantine process and then scrap that item or you can create a normal return order by deducting the item and don't send that item.

Hi Mayouni,

In case you want to register a purchase order for matching with a credit note, you can use a purchase category. Instead of a PO, you can also use the invoice journal to register the vendor credit note.
