User session types in Online users form with AX load balancing

Hi All,

I have following configuration for AOS in my AX 2012 Production environment:

AOS1 => Machine1

AOS2 => Machine1 (Dedicated load balancer)

AOS1 => Machine2 (Batch server)

All of the above AOS instances are part of the load balance cluster. Now, I noticed that whenever a user gets connected, a session type of 'User' is created and shown in the online users form in AX and lot of other sessions are also being created with Session type 'Worker' for the same user within one hour of the user logged in time and date. The session type 'User' gets connected to AOS1 on Machine1 while all the 'Worker' session types gets connected to AOS1 on Machine2. I also checked the batch job history form to verify that no batch job was executed at the time when 'Worker' session type is created for this user. As a result, the number of clients on AOS1 => Machine2 is showing more than 200 users connected to it, while AOS1=> Machine1 has only around 70 to 80 users showing with all of them are being created with Session type "User".

Can someone please let me know that why so many Worker session types has been created and gets connected to AOS1=>Machine2 in this case. What the Worker session types are representing here?

    Hi Syed,

    Worker sessions could be used for e.g. printing reports. How many report servers did you configure? On which machine are they running?

    The type 'User' is the real user logged in into the AX client.

    like andre told you, those are from ssrs or sharepoint

    reports, use the default AOS like you configurated in ssrs setup in AX and the axc file on ssrs

    on sharepoint, you can also adapt it also with an axc file

    How could those answers help anyone??  They are vague and have absolutely no direction or specific answers at all.  I have the same problem where the user of my consultant always shows up as a "Worker" session type.  I understand it has something to do with SSRS but what does that mean??  I think finding a quantum physicist is easier than finding someone who truly knows AX inside out.  Sorry to be so mean but I'm just so done with AX, it's just not practical in so many ways and nobody will come out and say it.

    Hi TJ,

    Please note that people answering questions on the forum are volunteers trying to help people. The volunteers are not working for Microsoft, but we like share our knowledge towards the community. A while ago I sent you a private message because you had problems with implementing the AX payroll. So I know a bit your background and anger. Unfortunately my contacts in the US don't have knowlegde of the payroll. I understood it is quite difficult also due to different regulations withim each state.

    You should reflect your anger towards the partner who sold you this product without having capable consultants to implement it.

    Unfortunaltely I'm not located in your area. I would love to tell you everything I know about AX and help you getting the knowlegde (except for the Payroll).

    Now back to your reaction. If you don't understand the answer it would be OK to ask if we could rephrase our words. Maybe it is because English is not my native language.

    The worker session type is not a full AX client session. It is indicated in the online users form where the worker session remains open. It is possible that a person itself logged out from AX, but the worker session has its own alive state. This session type is indicating that e.g. a connection with SSRS was created on behalf of the user.

    I do hope these words will be better for your understanding. If not, I'm still willing to help you. Please tell then in detail what are the parts where you need the answer.

    I would like to ask you to not offend the volunteers in future. In some other posts you also used some rude words. This is not needed. That does.not solve your problem. So please be gentle and if you don't understand all, please ask.

    Hi!

    I was looking for an answer to my problem and I ended up here.

    I have quite the same problem as Baber Owais...

    I have 3 load balanced AOSs for a total of about 150 users.

    Since this morning I've noticed that there are a lot of worker sessions connected on the AOS1 (about 540 clients, while on the other 2 AOSs the number clients seems to be normal, 220 each, more or less.. ). The only thing I've been able to see is that every time a user logon, 3 worker sessions show up and wont go away.

    Till now (it's 12:00 am, so it's about 4 hours of work) ther number of worker sessions per user has increased to an average of 15 and I have no idea why...

    You talked about connections to SSRS and Sharepoint servers... May be good to restart them?

    Any other idea?

    Thanks!

    RE: User session types in Online users form with AX load balancing

    Hi,

    one simple  question:  which server (AOS) is defined  in the non-RPC part of the configaration file (the xml entry wcfconfig)

    Clustering will only work for the RPC part, the other part requires NLB.

    Each RPC user Session can an will have some worker sessions. But some of them can be orphaned (not removed correctly)

    Some more information  (looking at session type web) - just for keep in mind.

    websessions will never removed correctly, think its technically not possible, due to the session end event (timeout) is only triggered in InProcess Session state which isn't used by EP. Using EP you will have a lot of these orphaned entries.

    Maybe you should clear the SysClientSessionTable in regular intervals (if the AOS is down)

    regards

    Douglas

    Although this is an old link; it contains some good info about the session types in AX.

    I don't know if this really explains your issue, but I do know that the alerts feature spools up threads for each users that has an alert rule in place, and they appear as worker threads, and can start "on their own" at a time which is not obvious.  Do the users who get these threads correspond with users who have alert rules in place?
