Dynamics portal global help

Posted on by

Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to read this.

I have in my entity 'ODM' 3 different tabs.

Each of these tabs needs to be a step on the adxstudio portal. A step that I can submit. I explain: in the first step the user has to be able to insert some stuff (that's ok for that), then clicking on "submit", data has to be sent to the CRM, and then automatically generating a word with my pre-configured word template. There are 2 options: first, that word is sent to the user by email OR (the best) the word is directly attaching to the first step and the user can display it and do the next steps. I'm want to do on that way because I didn't find any way to generate words into adxstudio.

Once the file has been generated, sent by mail or directly displayed in the step, I want that the user can visualize it and re-upload it to the portal which will transmit it to the

If it's not clear or if you have any questions don't hesitate I really need help, thank you everyone

You need to create a entity list first. Then on that entity list add view, create or edit buttons and call the web page with steps. Web page is linked to Web forms that can have multiple steps.

    Hi Arpit,

Thank you very much for the time you took to answer me.

I'm answering you concerning problems I think I'll have with your solution, on that way I can start right after this and hope you'll answer me again, that would be awesome!

Your global idea seems to correspond exactly to what I want to achieve. But I want to be sure that at the end of each step, info are sent to CRM right? But in your first step you look like saying that it's the case.

    1. I think it will be ok.

    2. That's only a 'note access permit" right?

    3. That's the main problem... I know c# but i don't know at all where to right the code, how to attach it, do you have a link please? And where is the documentation of c# for dynamics portal? (of course I'll search by my side too) the main problem is here and will occured soon.

    4. Should be fine is the code is too.

    5. I know do it.

    Thank you again, really

    Cheers

    Hi Dridou,

I would recommend you to go with Webform to achieve this. Using webform you can let user give the option to fill the information in three different steps by showing the three tabs in three different steps.

Also, for word file attachment i would have been recommend to use SharePoint, but unfortunately it's not supported in CRM Portal till now.

At highlevel what you can do is :

    1. Create a webform with only one step and choose "Autogenerared tab" option in webform step. This will render your form tabs in three different steps on portal.(steps will be having Previous and Next button to move to next and previous steps in order to insert or update the information).

    2. Expose CRM "Notes" under Tab2 in order to provide upload attachment option or to show already uploaded attachments.(word template).

    3. Write a plugin on create of ODM entity, this will create a word template with the information you have been submitted in Step 1 and will attach it to that record's notes.

    4. As soon as user will fill the information in step 1 or tab1 and click on Next button, plugin will trigger and create a word template and attach it to note of that record. User will be able to see the attached file in Step 2 or tab2.

    5. You can enable enable entity permissions on webform step and give option user to delete and upload new file in Notes. So that user can delete the plugin created word file and can upload its own.

Just shared a high level approach. I hope you get an idea. Feel free to get in touch in case of any doubt.

    Cheers

    Arpit
