How do you modify a Role in Business Central?

How does a Rle or modified Role affect security in Business Central?

Hi,

You can modify a role as follows, from within the Profiles (Roles) select Customise pages

This will open a new window where you will then be able to customise as normal.

With regards to security you will still need permissions to make sure that the users cannot navigate to other information so using both permissions and customisation should limit user access.

Hi, if you are a developer, you can use the Page customization object to modify roles.
It is similar to Page Extension in terms of modifying the layout of the page.

Modification of a profile, refer to what Shuana replied. You will find everything there.

ALl modifications done through Customize Pages will be available to ALL USERS connected to the profile, in ALL companies... so, be careful!

On the other hand, your other question.

Customizing a Profile/Role only shifts the presentation of UI-parts... It does NOT affect permissions at all. Not even the slightest bit.

Attributing a user a different Profile, will change literally nothing to their BC-access rights and permissions.
