Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2013 'Item does not exist' error

The below error message is being received when trying to post an item journal on Microsoft Dynamics Nav 2013. 

The journal is a negative adjustment, and no changes have been made to the item card since July. I have seen other people have this error where there was a blank line on the journal but this is not the case. The same error is being raised for a different item when trying to post a consumption journal.

If anyone can offer any ideas about what could be causing this
