Hi, trying appy the update from version 10.0.42 to 10.0.44
keep getting this error:

Step 27 Update script for service model: DevToolsService on machine:

The logs show this error: [ErrorCode: 131077]Failure running the VSIX installer

I found this article which recommends running the VSIX installer manually.

https://community.dynamics.com/blogs/post/?postid=05556865-e79d-4c5c-88ff-7a668d94a464

This also did not work.  The other recommendation that I found was to uninstall and re-install the dev tools
but not sure how to do this.

Can I just run the uninstall file and then run installer 17.0?

    Hi,

The error you're encountering during the update from version 10.0.42 to 10.0.44 — specifically ErrorCode: 130177 related to the VSIX Installer — is often due to a mismatch or corruption in the DevToolsService components.

    Here's what you can try:

    1. Uninstall Dev Tools Safely:

      • Yes, you can run the Uninstall file shown in your folder (likely Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.Installer_17.0.msi).
      • This will remove the existing Dev Tools components cleanly.
    2. Reinstall Dev Tools:

      • After uninstalling, run the Installer_17.0.msi to reinstall the Dev Tools.
      • Make sure to run it as Administrator to avoid permission issues.
    3. Run VSIX Installer Manually (if needed):

      • If the Dev Tools reinstall doesn’t automatically fix the issue, try running the VSIX Installer manually from the Visual Studio command line:

    VSIXInstaller.exe /quiet /logFile:install.log <path-to-vsix>

    1. Clear Cache and Restart:

      • After reinstalling, restart Visual Studio and clear any cached metadata if prompted.

Let me know if you'd like help locating the correct VSIX file or verifying the installation path!

    Best regards,
    Daniele

I don't have the msi file.  I just have the files listed.

Can  I run this instead of the MSI folder:

    Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Tools.Installer.17.0.vsix

Do you use visual studio 2019 or 2022?

Maybe if easier deploy a new environment
