Backward flushing on items with Lots

Hi all

I need some advice, I have a client that uses LOTS. They are a manufacturing company and ultimately moves all stock that will be consumed into a WIP Floor area. They want the system to auto pick the Lot number via Backflushing. I know this is not best practice, but they are trying to find ways to not have to go onto each consumption line to pick the lot number. Ideally they want to be able to go onto the order. Reserve the items which BC will do and it auto reserves the oldest lot in that WIP floor BIN, but they system STILL wants you to select the bin upon finishing the order.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to auto allocate a lot to a consumption?

Best practice for me would be that they pick the consumption at the time of weighing out the products - they write down the lot numbers anyway. Perhaps I am just complicating things.

Hope to get some advice from other partners using lots in a manufacturing processing with warehouse management.

    Hi,

I have had a couple of customers ask for this before and there are two ways that this can be done.

    1. With development when the user changes the status from released to finished, bespoke code can add the lot numbers to the prod. component lines and this will then consume using standard code.  (Assuming that there are no routing links codes which means that backward is consumed at the point of output).

    2. Manually add the item tracking lines to the prod. order component lines.  This could replace them writing down the lots so that each of the backward component lines have the lots already defined.  When the production is changed from released to finished the stock is then automatically consumed.

Select finished and consumption is automatically posted based on the output quantity of the finished item.

    Hope that helps,
    Shauna

I agree that this is not possible out of box for BC to auto pick a lot for consumption. Normally, those items use manual flushing method cause user need to capture the lot info to post consumption. If the below flag is set to no, BC is able to backflush the item, but it won't capture the lot number, which is not ideal.

consider to change the flushing method or build an extension seem to be the solution here.
