Exporting config package results in jumbled number formats - seems to be suited for American users, not European?

Posted on by 40

Hi. When I export a package, for instance from tabel 17 - GL entries - the number format comes out in US format.

For instance the amount will read "9,152.17" instead of "9.152,17". Also the numbers will be formatted as text.

Which means before I can use the data, I need to search and replace commas with decimals and vice versa, and afterward, convert to number using the "NUMBERVALUE" function in excel.

Is there any place in business central that you can define the data type? So that the data will come out correctly from the get go, and I dont have to manipulate it after.

    Hi

My preference is Power BI. if you use this report over and over and want to refresh it then Power BI is the better option. In addition you can integrate Power BI report into BC. See below. This way user with both Power BI license and BC license can see the report in BC.

    Note:

Power Bi desktop is free but if you want to publish, share, or embedded in BC you need Power BI license.

Youre a gold mine of information :)

Another thing I was considering was using PowerBI to build these reports... of the choices available, which one do you use? or which one would you recommend?

    1) Power Bi

    2) Configuration packages

    3) PowerAutomate

    4) ODATA

That seems very interesting, using ODATA! First I've heard of it. Will look into as soon as I have an hour or two to spare - i love optimizing my workflows..

    Hi

Data in configuration package is always text and same format. I could not find a method to change that.

That being said if you use Configuration Package to just export the data and use them somewhere else then I recommend using ODATA and Excel archerpoint.com/.../

This way you can format the data one time and use it.

Hi Josh! Thanks for the input. Yes I really thought the language code on the package itself would do the trick, but it didnt - set it to 1030 Denmark but it had no effect.

The "my settings" shows language set to denmark and region set to denmark.

What are the regional settings of the user? Also there is a language code in the configuration package. Believe that has an impact
