Hello,

Please help! I have an UDE and I have been using it daily for about a year now. Since I updated my Visual Studio 2022 Community version to the latest version a few days ago, Visual Studio cannot build any model anymore.

It's kind of important to be able to build models so that I can deploy and test. I have reinstalled the Visual Studio Dev Tools for Finance and Operations (Dynamics 365) but alas, no joy. I also removed the Visual Studio cache, also no luck.

This even happens after restarting Windows and I make sure to start the build only once.

The error message: Another X++ build is currently running. Please finish or cancel it before starting a new build.

Hi FO user,

You are not the first one experiencing this issue. You can check the Dynamics 365 setting for Build Modules in parallel. If this is enabled, try to disable it.

You can also try to redownload the Dynamics 365 assets.

Thanks for your reply. I tried disabling the Build Modules in parallel option but alas, no luck. I restarted VS and also tried enabling it with e.g. 5 models but still no luck. It is still giving the same error. I downloaded the assets as well but it did not work unfortunately.

Hi FO user,

Can you check using task manger if the any other user is using the system to develop?

Sometime There might be glitch in the VS. Check if you can build any solutions also.

Did you try recreating the configuration from the menu.

Extensions >> Dynamics 365 >> Configure Metadata

Thank you @Nisarg Jani and @Sohaib Cheema for replying. I'm the only one on the VM. I tried downloading the assets again, checked the metadata config and now I'm getting this weird error. Of course when searching on Google it returns exactly 0 results.

Did you try re-creating the configuration ?

And my next suggestion is, if you have tried your Visual Studio version to Professional?

@Sohaib Cheema I deleted all configurations and downloaded the assets. The configurations were created again. I checked them and they seemed good except for one thing which I changed.

Perhaps reinstalling Visual Studio will probably solve this issue. Perhaps I will install the Pro version but in my mind that shouldn't make any difference as the available functionality in VS in controlled by license and not the actual installed software.

Hi @FO user, Go to Build section at top in Visual Studion > Click on cancel.

Shortuct:- Ctrl+Break

Now I'm able to build one of two custom models. One always fails with the error below.

Hi,

That recent error shows likely you are passing a wrong type for the parameter to a method.

Does that leads you anywhere (to a code) when you double-click the first message?
