Inventory Scanner for RMS

Hi

We are looking for a handheld, wireless barcode scanner which is compatible with RMS for Inventory Scanning.  Mainly so that stock can be updated, etc.

It must be able to connect to the RMS database and update, etc.

Can someone assist with a recommendation?

I favor the  www.motorolasolutions.com/.../MT2000+Series+Handheld+Mobile+Terminals_US-EN

but I am not sure if its compatible.

Regards

Al

    RE: Inventory Scanner for RMS

    Hello Al,

We have deployed the following scanner with great end user satisfaction.  www.intermec.com/.../ck3r-pp-web.pdf

Outside of being a great piece of hardware this handheld also includes RITE Scan software.  With it you can preform physical inventory counts, create purchase orders / inventory transfers, scan products to get sales history, line bust (create POS transactions on hold that can be recalled by a cashier), create new items, change prices, and more!

    Hope that helps

I would recommend the iPod touch, I believe they are around $200 right now. They work very well with the Socket scanners b/c Socket has certified them for iOS. The setup is as simple as pairing the device and then scanning a barcode.

Very interesting. Is there an inexpensive device that you recommend to use with their clip-on scanner?

That's correct, those are ruggedized enterprise class devices. I like the Socket line of scanners, they make a hand held version as well as a clip on. Here is a link to the clip on- ww1.socketmobile.com/.../chs-series-8.aspx

Interesting, those all look to be fairly expensive though. (over $1000) Does anybody make a decent barcode scanner attachment for consumer devices? Having the scanner separate wouldn't work well in my opinion. One-handed operation is a must.

Good question! You are correct in that camera scanning is not the quickest way to scan barcodes. There are a few Android devices with a scanner built in- The motorola mc 40, tc 55 and the Honeywell black all have them built in. You can also use a Bluetooth scanner paired with a consumer device.

    Adam,

Are there any Android devices that have a built-in laser scanner and would your program support such a device? I would think using a phone camera to scan barcodes would be slow compared to a laser scanner.

Hi Spencer, the new version runs on iOS (Apple) and Android only. The old version that runs on Windows Mobile will continue to be supported as we have quite a few people running it.

Hey Adam. Does the new version run on Windows Mobile like the older version, and if not, will you guys continue to support the older version?

    Hi Guys,

My name is Adam and I am with New West Technologies. We now have a new version of Mobile Manager that runs on iOS and Android devices. It also is far more feature rich than the previous version. You can scan matrix and serial items in this version.

Let me know if you would like more information-
