About a year ago, a question was asked in this forum about SharePoint 2013 support, but the answer was that it hadn't been tested because 2013 was in pre-release. It's a year later. Is SharePoint 2013 now supported in the latest version of Business Portal? If not, is it possible to use SharePoint 2010 Experience in SharePoint 2013 with BP?
Lvigg,
That is a tough question, and in some cases its not a bad idea to get both sides opinion. As a very rough guideline, if you are seeing an issue with the root sharepoint site, then it would go to sharepoint. If the issue you are seeing only shows up on the BP site, then it would be a business portal question.
We have seen the "claims based authentication" question come up a few times, and yes, business portal does not like claims based. It wants windows. Of course if changing it ends up breaking something on the non-BP side, then that is probably where the discussion of having a completely separate sharepoint setup for BP comes into play.

We had an outside consultant re-install SharePoint for us. We were on 2010, but the entire site had to be re-done because it was not set up to meet our needs and we upgraded to 2013. SharePoint 2013 was up and functioning. Then Business Portal was installed. From what I gather, because of the Claims Authentication for 2013, when Business Portal was installed - it switched to Windows Authentication and locked others out and could no longer get access to the Companies Regular SharePoint site. Business Portal worked at that point. So there is a discrepancy between the outside consultants on how to set up. Dynamics Partner wants separate server, separate instance, separate farm set up for BP. Our SharePoint Partner wants to have a separate Web Application using a dedicated application pool. So my question is - where would you pose these types of questions to - under SharePoint Help or Dynamics Business Portal?
What are you looking for on the SharePoint side? Many times, we have the clients IT Admin install SharePoint, or create a new SharePoint site just for BP, then we install BP on the new site.
Since BP is going away with WebApps in SL2015, and will not be using SharePoint at all, the requirement for dual knowledge will be very small.
Are there experts with both SharePoint 2013 installation and Business Portal 6.1 installation? My Dynamics Partner does not seem to have expertise with SharePoint and my SharePoint Partner does not seem to have expertise with BP. I am looking for assistance with both - any suggestions? Thanks
Just released today.....
Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics SL - Release 2011 Feature Pack 1 SharePoint 2013 is now available.
All,
We will soon be releasing BP 6.1 which will work with SharePoint 2013 in compatibility mode. BP 6.1 should be available by the end of March.
ditto
Good evening,
Just wanted to see if there were any updates on this as we are looking to deploy SharePoint 2013.
Thanks!
Hi Chuckle2013,
Business Portal will not work with SharePoint 2013. We haven't tested SharePoint 2010 Experience in SharePoint 2013 for use with BP so we really don't know at this time. I don't have an ETA of when BP will run with SharePoint 2013.
