CRM2016 How to sever a Parent-Child Account association

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I am new to my company and just learning Dynamic CRM 2016.

There is a request coming to break a parent - child relationship.

I see there is a relationship between the accounts.  When looking up the account hierarchy I see no Open Revenue and no Open Deals.

I can figure out how to remove the link so they are no longer parent-child.

Any help for this newbie would be appreciated.

Thanks

Donna C

    Hi DXC,

In solution explorer, expand Entities and select an entity. Within that entity, select either 1:N Relationships or N:1 Relationships

While viewing entity relationships, select the entity relationship you want to delete and click the pastedimage1580331774720v3.gif command.

Deleting the relationship will delete the lookup field on the related entity.

    Hello,

As Adrian suggested, you have to delete the relationships to remove the fields permanentely from the system. However, I don't recommend doing it especially if they are already deployed on other environements and those fields might be used for other need.

However, you can check the below:

    1. If it is used any other components of the system by checking its dependencies (www.marksgroup.net/.../)

    2. That is not used in any plugin or JavaScript that might break the code

At the end, you can always remove the fields from any component without deleteing it permanentely from the system.
