A new inventory item was created and added to a PO. The user then realized the item was created in error and wanted to delete it. The item was never received so it was deleted from the open PO. No other transactions have been performed on the item. No item ledger entries are listed for this item. Yet, when we attempt to delete the item, we get the following message: "You cannot delete item 'xxxx' because there is at least one Journal Line that includes this item". We have tried everything, deleting any related vendor item records, deleting all attribute records among other things and we still receive this same error. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi there!
It sounds like you're running into a bit of trouble trying to delete an inventory item that was added to a purchase order but never received. I can definitely understand how frustrating this can be!
Based on the error message you're receiving, it seems like there may still be a journal line somewhere in the system that includes this item. Journal lines can be created for a variety of different transactions, so it can be a bit tricky to track down exactly where this line is coming from.
Here are a few things you can try to help narrow down the source of the issue:
- Check any other purchase orders that may have included this item to see if there are any outstanding journal lines associated with it.
- Review any sales orders or other transactions that may have referenced this item to ensure that there are no outstanding journal lines associated with it.
- Check any general journals or other types of journals that may have included this item to see if there are any outstanding lines associated with it.
It's also possible that there may be some other data associated with the item that is preventing it from being deleted. For example, if there are any item attributes or other related records that are still referencing the item, that could cause issues as well.
If you've already tried deleting any related vendor item records and attribute records and are still running into issues, it may be helpful to consult with a Business Central expert or Microsoft partner who can help you troubleshoot the issue more thoroughly.
Hi, You can also open the table directly and retrieve data in it.

Hope this helps as well.
Thanks.

Try to check all item related journals, such as Physical Inventory Journal, Item Journal, Item Reclass Journal, etc.
If you are not able to figure out what journal line is preventing you from deleting the item you can have a developer debug it, that should quickly give you the answer to what needs to be deleted.
hi
It seems like there is a journal line that includes the inventory item you are trying to delete, which is preventing the deletion of the item. You can try the following steps to find and delete the journal line:
Open the Item Journal page and filter for the item you want to delete.
Check if there are any journal lines that include the item. If you find any, delete those lines.
After deleting the journal lines, try to delete the item again.
If this doesn't work, you can also try the following:
Check if there are any purchase or sales documents that include the item. If you find any, delete those documents.
After deleting the documents, try to delete the item again.
If neither of these solutions work, there may be a data issue that requires further investigation. In this case, you may want to reach out to a Dynamics 365 Business Central expert or Microsoft support for assistance.

Hi,
You should check Item Journal to see if there is any line for this item.
