Greetings
Our description field in RMS can best be described as a nightmare. There is no nomenclature for the most part and the descriptions are not descriptive.
We have created an excel spreadsheet which has the item number and description using a nomenclature which allows for descriptive understanding.
With over 10,000 items to be edited, is there a way to execute with without manually entering each description from the excel file?

You can do this using the import utility tool from RR.

I could try helping you with this if you send me a database backup and the excel spreadsheet. We have a tool for this but we don't share it freely however I can try to make the modifications locally and send it back to try to help you
Hi Albert.
What Eliud is suggesting is correct, but would be one by one item update. What I would do is upload your excel file into a temp SQL table that you can create into the RMS database. Then create an SQL Sentence that will do the update all the descriptions per item.
Do this always with a database backup and if possible in a test environment. Have in mind the lenth of the description field!!

You can use sql command to update you description.this is the only way to avoid having duplicates in your DB.
the following command hope will help you
update item set description='x' where itemlookupcode='y'
replace x with your desired description and y with the corresponding lookupcode
