Pat,
Do yourself a favor and install Management Reporter and deploy the test reports as a primer on creating financial statements using Dynamics GP.
That being said - here is a link to a blog post I wrote on pulling General Ledger Data from Dynamics GP for Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques. You should be able to use this post as a start to putting together a a financial statement.

Additionally, My SQL page has some additional practical advice on SQL joins, cases, etc., which might aid you in this endeavor.

Good luck with this endeavor and feel free to reach out to me if you bump into an obstacle or two.
Hi Pat,
As Frank and Redbeard suggested, you should use Management Reporter 2012 (aka MR2012)... Microsoft has put a lot of work in creating those Tools (FRx being the old Financial reporting tool) to provide quick and easy Financial reports across your GP companies. We have several GP companies and produce every month-end consolidated reports, even with different currencies across the companies.
MR2012 is easy to install and in a matter of less then an hour you'd have your consolidated report based on the out-of-the-box provided report sample that Microsoft provides for free. Don't make your life more complicated than required :-)... SSRS is requiring way more hours of work then it would take you to achieve the same result with MR 2012.
Why do you need it in SSRS Pat? It will take a whole lot more work to do in SSRS.
Yes I have the FRx, but I would like to do something with SSRs. Thank you!
Thank you but I need the SSRs
Pat, as Redbeard suggests, either Management Reporter or FRx has been a standard part of GP for some time now. You indicate you are on GP 2010. You do have one or the other tool available. It just may not be deployed yet.
If you are on an older version of GP (prior to 2010), then the tool you would want to use is FRx (Financial Reporting Extender), the predecessor of Management Reporter.
