Hi folks,

We have 2 companies on a single server from a single install of GP. I created a new layout for SOP Blank invoice form for the new company and am trying to assign it to the new one but it does not show up in the Alternate Modified Forms and Reports. Am i missing any step?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Good morning - oh so many things can be causing this - first after you save the report in report writer do you go back to GP and look for it in the Reports and Forms?  Is that what you are saying?

Do you have the correct security to see the modified reports?  I am thinking you do as you are creating security.  I would log off of GP - and then reconnect and see if the refresh of the Modified Reports dictionary helps.

When you are logged into GP it may or not refresh the look at the Reports.DIC file.

    Let us know.

    Hi Bill,

Apparently there is only one SOP Blank Invoice Form report, that is assigned to the first company, appeared in Reports and Forms.

The one recently created is not listed. I am using 'sa' login.

Could you please tell me how to get to the Reports. DIC file?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

When you look at Administration >> Edit Launch file - what do you have for Modified Reports - should be the last line in the popup when you highlight Microsoft Dynamics in the product list.

In all cases you can only have 1 original and 1 modified report for each of the reports in the system.

The only way you can have a different one for a different company would be to have a different xReport.dic for that other company and then you would need to create a new launch file for that other company and access that xReport.dic file.

Challenge here is that once this is done you can not simply switch between companies - you have to log off of Microsoft Dynamics GP and then use the other launch file and re-connect to Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply Bill. I will have our GP partner handle it.

Just to throw my cents in here, what Bill is alluding to is to make sure you are looking at the right copy of the REPORTS.DIC file. If you made the modifications on one computer with its local copy of the REPORTS.DIC file and then go to another computer with its copy of the REPORTS.DIC you will not see the modified report under Alternate Forms and Reports. You need to make sure you are using a shared REPORTS.DIC file. Usually I designate one computer to use a local copy and make the modifications there and then when the report is ready I copy it to the server. You do not want to be making modifications to reports while other user are in GP. You may corrupt the reports file.

Richard, thanks for completing the thought process.  I did not write that - but it is for sure what I was thinking as writing.

This is why the community works so well for so many.

Good luck Nhi and thanks Richard.

If you want multiple SOP document formats in a single reports.dic custom report dictionary then use a different one of the four SOP formats, blank, long, short, other.

You can then set up each company to use it's format.

If you want separate reports.dic for different companies then GP Power Tools has a feature to ensure the custom dictionaries are only used with the correct companies.

Can you see you modified report in Customization Maintenance window. If it does not show then it will not show on the security windows.

    Hi David,

The modified report shows in Customization Maintenance but not on the Alternate/Modified forms.

Also, the short, long, option invoice form are not in the Alternate forms so I cannot assign the long or short modified form to the new company. What should I do to have them in the list?
