OST file corruption

Hi

We've recently moved 50 sales guys onto Windows 8.1 Tablet, with 3G cards in them.

On here, they're using Outlook 2013 with the Outlook CRM client, which connects through to out On Premise CRM2013 solution.

Since rolling these out, we've had around a dozen of them who've had issues with their OST becoming corrupt, which then means we have to remove the ost & then allow Outlook to rebuild this.

Has anyone else come across this before? Any ideas on what the cause might be?

Thanks

Rob

    Hi Rob,

What is the error/behavior reported by the users? Is Outlook crashing? Do you get a CRM Outlook error? Do they use the Offline client?

    Hi Oana

It looks like it's locking / corrupting the OST, so when a user tries to close and then re-open Outlook, it's saying that the OST is not accessible (couple of differing errors)

I'm not sure whether this is specifically related to the CRM client or Outlook itself.

There's no CRM error. We have installed the Offline part of the Client, but we're not using it.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

I have found this article about repairing OST files in Outlook 2013:

    support.office.com/.../Repair-Outlook-Data-Files-pst-and-ost-64842a0a-658a-4324-acc6-ef0a6e3567cd

From the description it doesn't seem CRM specific but you can try to disable the CRM Add-in. Keep us posted.

    Hi Oana

I've seen many article on repairing OST files. Not many on the cause, which is what I'm interested in.

We can't disable our CRM Add-In either.....otherwise we lose their ability to use CRM.

I'll keep looking.....hopefully it will get resolved by magic.
