Add to marketing list using advanced find fails

I try to add contacts to a marketing list using advanced find. I get the find results, but when I try to "Add all the members..." it just grinds away at "Processing, please wait..." apparently forever. The only way I can get search results into the marketing list is to select all and "Add selected members". We're using Online and just updated to the newest version.

How many contacts are you trying to add at once?

And when you say you updated to the newest version, are you on 2016 Update 1?  Or just 2016?  Sorry to ask, but the latest version will be different depending on your region.

We are on CRM Online 2016 SP 1 and see the same issue as well.  We couldn't get 246 contacts to go via adding all.  They only went when we selected all and clicked on Add Selected, and even then the progress bar never showed any progress - it just all of a sudden completed.

We are having the same problem except our lists are 20k in size so using the selected members option is really painful when we have to add 250 at a time. We are on Update 1 (on premise)

We are having the same experience - CRM 2016 U1, Online.  "Add all" never finishes.  We've also noticed that when using "only the selected members", the task sometimes throws an error and needs to be run multiple times to get everyone added.

Guessing that this is a bug in the latest release.

Hi, i managed to get this resolved through a paid support ticket with Microsoft. Apparently there is currently a bug in CRM 2016 which means when global auditing is enabled in settings, the Add All on advanced find fails to work. I turned this off in settings and the problem immediately went away.

    hope it works for you.

We have the same issue, and it sounds that if auditing is needed then there is no way to fix this, can I clarify if anyone has managed to find another way to resolve?

I am also having this issue and I have been told that it is due to be resolved in an upcoming update.  The full text of the response from Microsoft is below:

Resolution: This issue has been reported as a known issue and it has been highlighted to our product team and they are working on a fix for the same, the fix would be released through the upcoming updates and as a workaround we select "Add only the selected members to the marketing list".

They've suggested that the only way to get round it is to select the members you want to add and then select the "Add Only the selected Members" option.  As has already been highlighted, this is a total pain if you have thousands of people to add at a time!

Did Microsoft ever resolve this matter?

We have tried the suggested global auditing setting suggestion and it does fix the bug but at what cost Charles?

    Thanks

We received a hotfix from Microsoft Support. It's called KB3199776 and resolved our issue.

You can request it from Microsoft Support or download it temporary here: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/.../KB3199776.zip

I agree, adding them manually in batches doesn't work for larger selections. As a workaround you might consider creating an intermediate dynamic marketing list, and add its members to your original marketing list:

    • Create a dynamic marketing list using the same query as the one that fails on your original list
    • Copy your new dynamic marketing list to a static one using 'COPY TO STATIC'
    • Go to the Marketing Lists view and select the new static marketing list
    • Merge it into your original marketing list using 'COPY MARKETING LIST'
    • Copy-to.png

Still a pain, but less of a pain than adding 10.000 people manually.

    I hope this helps!
