We have a client that wants to upgrade all of his workstations to windows 7 from Vista for SL7. Does anyone know if FRX sp10 will work on win7? How about FRx forecaster?

Hi,
I was able to load FRx 6.7 sp9 on a couple Windows 7 workstations, one of which was a 64bit install. That was just the regular FRx(Drill Down Viewer, Report Designer, Report Launcher and Report Manager) not FRx Forecaster. Also I was able to install crystal reports on both the 32bit and 64bit install.
Best Regards,
Sam Deason
Thank you for the information. I will pass it on to our client.
Have a good day,
Linda Smith
According to this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Microsoft%20Dynamics%20FRx&v=Microsoft&uid=6&pf=0&pi=3&c=Enterprise%20Applications&sc=System%20Software&os=64-bit
FRx 6.7 is not compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. It might install, but does it run. I have a client who installed it without a problem but is getting errors when attempting to execute a report.
Well it might say it’s not compatible, but I was able to install and yes I actually tried to use it after installing. Are you sure they installed FRx correctly and what kind of error message are they receiving.
Here's the error message they're reporting:
When generating a report using the FRx drilldown viewer I am getting an error stating that msxml.dll is missing. I have downloaded and installed both MSXML 4.0 and 6.0 (latest versions), but no luck.
I could not find anything on PartnerSource about the error. Any help would be appreciated.
You might want to try this:

The client attempted to re-register the dlls prior to submitting their support request but it did not resolve the problem they're having with FRx in 64-bit environments.

...FRx 6.7 is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems and there is not planned compatibility. Granted it does not directly reference Windows 7, but it appears it just won't work in this type of environment.
I'd be curious to know how you got your install to work in a 64-bit environment.
Well I just double checked the windows 7 64 bit machine I installed FRx on and everything works. I have been having issues with the FRx client install from the client setup folder, so you might want to have them try to install the client off the FRx674SL7 CD or maybe try a Fat client install instead of a thin. Thats about all I can think of though, in my experience FRx is never an easy install.
Hey Sam,
While I have no doubt that you have been successfully running FRx on 64-bit system, I do have a question from support perspective. Have you been through a situation where you needed any kind of support on FRx and Microsoft was able to help or share useful insights?
Our real concern is that FRx will be replaced by MR (Management Reporter) in about year's time and we would need to convert all the FRx reports to MR reports. Even though it is assumed to be a smoother transition (it's only an assumption!), our company does have many what-if question that may hinder us from moving forward.
Please advise. Thank you.
Still can't get over what a bad product Microsoft Dynamics is. First it cannot produce financial statements properly on its own, then the add-on software doesn't work with new operating systems. What's next?
Why is Microsoft producing stuff with so many compatibility issues? Vista has "known compatibility issues" with small business server (two microsoft products!). Office 2007 uses a different format from Office 2003 (again, two microsoft products!)
