Good Morning,

I have this part that was set up as none in the tracking dimensions but should have been serial. Now I have four production orders that I need to add serial numbers to. Is there a way I can add serial numbers to the production orders with the part set up this way?

    Hello Lumarie.

    You need to setup your item correctly.

    I suggest to delete the 4 production orders first (if they are not fully completed you can go back).

    Then, change the tracking dimension group of your item.

    Then recreate and process your production orders

    It may not be so simple if you have inventory on hand, WIP, other production orders, open POs etc and then try make serial mandatory.

    Create new items and set up correctly. If those are component items,  then create new BOM versions for related parents and delete the old non serialised components. Add the correct components in the new versions

    Reverse pick/ Close all related orders or complete as is and adjust the stock to the new code later

    Stock  adjust between old and new code.

    inactivate old items. Close old BOM versions.

    Update any other settings for the new items e.g. QA associations,
