Would anyone know please which update package (s) are needed to go from 16.00.0552 (R2) to 2018 please?

If you went "by the books" then the upgrade path you'd most likely want to follow is as below assuming you want to go to 18.6 which was just released:

16.00.0552>16.00.0991

16.00.0991>18.3.1290

18.3.1290>18.4.1361

18.4.1361>18.5.1556

18.5.1556>18.6
