Microsoft Dynamics Web Service SOAP (XML) over HTTPS

Dear all,

We have a plan to establish B2B integration with our ITSM tool.

However the communication protocol supported by our middleware are:

- Web Service SOAP over HTTPS

- SMTP

Does Microsoft Dynamics CRM support these protocols? I tried to browse through the documentation, but I can't find any detail about this.  the only one I found is SDK, where our middleware can't call this.

Could anyone advise here if web service or smtp protocol supported? and any link to the documentation?

Cheers,

Kb

Yes - Dynamics CRM does support SOAP over https provided that crm is enabled for https.  See msdn.microsoft.com/.../jj602979(v=crm.5).aspx

As Scott mentions, SOAP over https is supported. We use it all the times :)

    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the information. It looks like this is an SDK, so it seems that our middleware have to call this objects to communicate with Dynamics CRM. --unfortunately our middleware is a passive middleware--

Is there any option that Dynamics CRM to initiate Web Service call to our middleware?

    Thanks again,

    Hi Bas,

Thanks for the info. our middleware unfortunately is a passive middleware, thus it can't call sdk.

Wondering if there an option where Dynamics CRM to initiate the web service call?

    Thanks,

    Hi Kb,

if I understand you correctly, you want to communicate from CRM to your middleware solution. Is that correct?

If that is the case, you can write a plugin or action on CRM that calls the webservice on your middleware solution.  The only restriction on the side of CRM is that you need to use an URL (but that shouldn't be an issue ;) )

The link I posted was on how to connect to the SOAP endpoint through Java - and not using the SDK .net assemblies. msdn.microsoft.com/.../jj602979(v=crm.5).aspx

You should simply have to reference the soap wsdl at a url similar to disco.crm.dynamics.com/.../Discovery.svc

The middleware should then import the schema and allow you to call it. The middleware will need to implement WS-Auth for this to work if you are using IFD or CRM Online.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Hi Bas, Scott,

yes, correct. CRM to Middleware communication.

Got it!, so Plugin and Actions can call webservice (wsdl url) .

    Thanks alot. This answers.
