Management Reporter Blank out columns but still include in total

Client has given me a consolidated income statement consisting of 3 companies. Column A is the description, column B is the total, columns C, D and E are the three companies. When they print the consolidated report they want the total column to include all three columns but they want columns C and D to be blank and only column E to contain figures. If I use the NP option on the columns, it drops the columns completely and the total is only the value in column E. How do I accomplish this in MR?

Richard, try the 'Column Restrictor" field on the row definition. Sounds like you might be able to put just E in this column to get your results. May have to do something in addition here but hopefully this gets you in the right direction. Let me know how it goes.

I actually put B,E,F,G,H  in the column restrictions on the rows which made column C and D completely disappear. B is the total column and that is correct. The other problem is the fact that all rows have the same value and that is what is in E.  I am trying to get them to get me to the original server where supposedly these reports worked. I am also going to create a sample report with new rows, columns and trees to see if that one will work. Right now I do not see how that is possible.

OK, here is the fix.  On their GP 2010 server they were running MR 2.1.1030.2 (CU2). We had originally exported the building blocks and imported them to their test server which was running MR 2.12.16003.25 (CU16). We then exported the building blocks from test to production. This created the issue. I then took the export off the old server and imported them onto the production server(CU16) and the problem went away. This concerns me as will never be able to export the buildings in the future. Does anyone have any idea of what caused this and how to correct it?

Kyle, would it make sense to install their original MR version and then take it through the various upgrade steps to make it current? Any suggestions on which hops would be required? Perhaps just 2.x to MR 2012?

My thought is that the Total in Column B is using a Formula of 'C:D'.

Change the Formula to 'C+D+E' and the NP column should be included in the Total but would not show on the report.

Column Restriction will show values on in the rows that are included in the Restriction

The current version of MR2012 CU16 (2.12.16003.25) shouldn't have any issues.

That is correct but all the columns repeated what was in column E which was the default company. Now with the second import of the building blocks I made no changes whatsoever and the reports are fine. My concern is now I have reports that cannot be exported and imported in the future as this issue will return. I am wondering if I should rebuild the environment and upgrade MR 2.1 to MR2012. Perhaps there is some upgrading of the ManagementReporter database that needs to be done.

    Hi Richard,

I researched this a bit and do not see any reported issues with the import of building blocks between systems causing issues.

If able to reproduce the issue, create a case for troubleshooting.

Microsoft charges $499 per incident so even though I can reproduce this issue the client is not going to pay this. Thanks for checking.
