Dynamics 365 on premise (Authentication)

(0) ShareShare

I currently have a Dynamics CRM 2016 on premise environment and am using AD for authentication, I am looking at Dynamics 365 on premise.

I know that Dynamics CRM 365 (Online) uses Azure to manage authentication, identity providers are linked to Azure and Dynamics authenticates users against this.

Does Dynamics 365 on premise behave in the same way (using Azure)?

Can I continue to use AD without Azure?

Will I need to link my AD instance with the Azure via the import tool?

Any information would be appreciated.

    You do not need to link your AD to Azure, to login into Dynamics 365 on-premise. You can continue using AD as before.

    No Special changes for On-Premise.

    Use

    // Connect to the CRM web service using a connection string.
                    CrmServiceClient conn = new Xrm.Tooling.Connector.CrmServiceClient(connectionString);

                    // Cast the proxy client to the IOrganizationService interface.
                    _orgService = (IOrganizationService)conn.OrganizationWebProxyClient != null ? (IOrganizationService)conn.OrganizationWebProxyClient : (IOrganizationService)conn.OrganizationServiceProxy;

    with Valid connection string .

    Thanks, do you know if 365 on premise comes with free access to Azure in the same way as 365 does?

    Hi Ryan,

    Tenfold just recently added MS office 365 to their integrations list. Tenfold offers features such as click to dial, automatic call logging, easy note taking and task creation, screen pops on inbound and outbound calls, new lead/contact creation when no matching records, support for cases/opportunities and advanced analytics on the backend. They also support MS Dynamics integration.
