How to set a default for a date in a workflow NOT JAVASCRIPT

When using dynamic values to populate fields in the Update record Action on a CRM workflow you get this:

There are fields show for setting a default.

However,  those fields are always inactive.  not useable.  no matter what I select those fields cannot be used.

QUESTION: Is it possible to set a fixed date or date/time (12/31/9999) into a date field in a CRM workflow?

I know how to do it with Javascript or a business rule.  This is probably just another of the many things that M$ just did not address when creating Dynamics 365.

    Have you tried set the Default value to "12/30/9999"? I tried with "12/31/9999" and it says this is not a valid date.

    "12/30/9999" works for me:

    Thank you for your reply.

    My apologies.  I had marked the field as read-only.  So, one cannot set a value for a field that is read-only in a workflow.

    So dumb of me and Microsoft.  

    That is really weird that there is not a December 31st for the year 9999.  now I am like well 12/30/9999 just doesnt look right :D  I guess to eliminate thepossibility of bad arithmetic comparisons like greater than.
