Hi all,

Does the "Profiling" consent have any major technical impact on the usage of D365? (fx. web interaction will not be calculated for all users below this consent)

Thank you,

Cat

    RE: GDPR consent: Profiling consent.

    Hello,

The different consent levels are provided as an out of the box suggestion how consent levels can be structured in a good way. Consent for "Profiling" (often also understood as automated decision making) is the highest consent that we have in the system.

We do not install automatic technical limitations. But the product offers customers to enable  Consent Management in the system settings and then the option to set the required consent level on customer journeys, lead scoring models and in the future on AI driven functionality.

It is up to the customer to set the right consent level for the specific marketing activity based on the purpose and functionality in which it is used, based on the legal environment in which the customer operates and also related to the usage terms that marketing customers offer to their audience.

One example on how consent could be used is to use reconsenting campaigns that will be able to reach out to any audience member with the base level of asking for Consent. And use other customer journeys that take advantage of automated decision making together with scoring models and potentially AI models under the required consent of profiling.

Interactions will be collected from audiences under all consent levels. But whether the data can be used for certain purposes can be made dependent on the consent given by the individual audience member.

    Dear Christian, Catermina,

do I understand it correctly now that profiling level is not triggered by the follow e-mail activity toggle nor related to the tracking toggle on a contact record?

I currently a bit lost in the difference between all 3 options:

Profiling = automated decision making, correct?

Follow e-mail activity = only related to e-mail interactions, correct?

    Tracking = ?

Could you please further elaborate on this, so I have a good understanding upon these differences?

Many thanks for your support and feedback upfront.

    KR,

    Josephine
