Purpose of primary address

What is the purpose of the primary address ?

We are wanting to create sales orders automatically from electronically received purchase orders.

The sales orders are getting created with the delivery address that is marked as the primary.

If we change the primary address to be the required delivery address, AX will create the sales order correctly with the correct delivery address.

Our concern is what will "break" if we change the primary address?

You can have a Business/Delivery address set as the Primary but using the "More options" you can set a different delivery address as the "Default." By doing so you override the Primary setting.

And for the quotation? I find out by default the system takes the first delivery address instead of business address which it sounds wierd for me. Any options to choose the right address when we generate quotations?

Hi,

The SO Copies the address with purpose of delivery, no matter it is Primary or not.

the priority is the purpose rather than primary field for SO.

So if you want to set your primary address for your SOs, you should select both purposes of Business & delivery.

Ok, it works but usually the business address is not the delivery address. So, I guess the implications for this is I will set the delivery address in my sales orders because my primary delivery address will be loaded wrong. Isn't it?

Do you mean that you need to use the business address for Quotations and delivery Addresses for SOs?

Oh... Delivery purpose is for Sales Order, not for delivery goods?

I do not understand what do you exactly mean by delivery goods.

let me explain completely what I mean .

When you creates sales Quotation or Order, The system copies the default delivery address of customer on them.

And when you create a Purchase Order, The System Copies the default delivery address of your legal entity.
