Bulk Replacement of Item Number in Bill Of Material Lines

Hi Experts,

1. Scenario :- to replace 1000  Bill of Material Lines where the Product Number has got changed so how to Do that ?

2.  There are several product whose item numbers got changed so how to change those in D365 F&O ?

3. If We replace the item numbers will it automatically impacts in BOM lines with the new item numbers ?

    Finding impacting BOMs

    • Use "Where-used" functionality on the BOM line. It shows you the BOM lines that contain the item you are looking for.

    Replacing BOM lines with the new item

    • Use "Change BOM item: functionality. It helps you to replace BOM line items with new items.
    • Inventory management > Periodic tasks > Bills of materials > Change BOM item

    That doesn't sound like an update, sounds like a data migration for a new set of data.

    Using data management would be a good solution. Date effective new BOM versions can be created.
