Is GP 2013 supported on Server 2012 R2? I know R2 was just recently released, but a client is curious about implementing GP on it.
Has anyone tried it yet? Any issues?

I have never read or came across any official document which states so. If you refer to Dynamics GP2013 System Requirements , you will not find windows server 2012 mentioned explicitly.
Although, I believe it is compatible since what's stated; Windows Server 2008, SP1 or Windows Server 2008R2 or later.

It is supported on Server 2012 and I see no reason it wouldn't work on 2012 R2
Becare Server 2012r2 uses powershell 4.0 and Server 2012 uses 3.0. I don't believe they are compatible at this time
Powershell is normally backwards compatible and I've never seen GP use powershell for anything.
According to this it is supported with SP 2 for GP 2013:
