How to check related actions or dependent actions

Dear All,

I’m not sure if this is the right question to ask, but I’m facing an issue with users who have very limited permissions.

What I’m trying to achieve is to show a specific action on the Sales Order page for these users. When I check the page using Personalisation, I can see the action, but I’m not able to make it visible.

I receive the following error message:

“You can't show this action because the visibility depends on another action which is currently hidden.”

However I think this is not related to permission as I check with super permission user with same role as well, I faced the same error message.

Could you all please advise how I can check which actions are dependent on another action?

Hello Dia,
This message is usually not a permission issue; it means the action you are trying to show is an actionref (typically a promoted action) whose base/target action or its parent action group is hidden. Microsoft documents that the visibility of an actionref depends on the visibility of its referenced action, and if the base action or its parent group is hidden by the page, a page extension, profile customization, or personalization, the promoted/reference action can't be shown independently. There isn't a standard client page that lists these dependencies, so the most reliable way is to check the Sales Order page/page extensions in AL and search for the action name/caption, then look for syntax such as actionref(MyRef; TargetAction); TargetAction is the action you need to make visible, including its parent group. Since you reproduced it with a SUPER user using the same role, I would first try Clear Personalization for the page and test with another profile; if it still occurs, review the profile/page customization or extension that hides the target action/group.

Hi Dia, forget permissions, this one is about promoted actions.
The button you are trying to show is only a copy. The real action sits somewhere in Actions, Related or Reports, and if that one is hidden, the copy can't come back. That's all the message is saying, just badly.
So look through those menus in personalisation, find the same action hidden there, show it, then go back to the promoted one. Usually that fixes it.
If you can't find it anywhere, then it's hidden by code and no personalisation will help, you need a developer.
And if it all gets in a mess, clear the personalisation from User Settings and start fresh.
Is it a standard action or from an extension?

Hi All,
Thanks for the help! I found it. It was hidden under one action. If I didn't allow to show that action, the system doesn't able to show the sub-menu I was looking for. Even using Profile(role) functionality, it doesn't allow. So I was confused. After I show the main menu, it is resolved.
