On any Quick Create "An error has occurred. Please return to the home page and try again."

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Any Quick Create in our CRM system throws not very helpful error. "An error has occurred. Please return to the home page and try again."
For example... when quick creating a contact:

7824.Capture.PNG

The following error message is displayed:
5187.Capture2.PNG

I did find this in the developer browser console though:

7633.Capture3.PNG

"SCRIPT5007: Unable to get property 'handleEvent' of undefined or null reference MicrosoftAjax.js (3014,9)"

Why is this random error happening?

A few things to note:

  • I turned on the trace log but did not find anything.
  • The contact or whatever quick create item is still created but the menu doesn't work unless you refresh the page.

    Hi,

I'm using Dynamics 365 CE v9, and I'm getting the same Error, without running any JavaScript neither on parent nor child.

    Regards

Fixed the problem. When I debugged the issue in edge I got the following error: Mscrm.TurboForm.Control.ValidationResult.getIsSaveCanceled()

I found what JS file initialized Mscrm.TurboForm.ValidationResult. It ended up being in C:\CRM_2016_DATA\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\CRMWeb\_static\form

formcontrols.js file was out of date so I simply updated it with the most recent version and the quick create works now.

Thank you for your reply Ravi Kashyap. It does not matter which page I am on, for example settings, I get the same error from the quick create of contact. It also does not matter which entity I try and qucik create, for example the quick create of a company and contact both throw the error.

Thank you for your reply Giani Noyez . As I mentioned to Wei Jie Fun, there are no Web Resources on my Quick Create Contact Form so therefore no DOM manipulation.

Thank you for your reply Wei Jie Fun. My Quick Create contact form does not have any items listed in its form libraries or event handles. Neither in Form OnLoad or OnSave. There are no customer JS web resources on the Quick Create Contact Form.

    Hi,

Can you check if you can open the quick create from any other entity? If yes, then quick create is fine and you need to look into the parent entity where it is not working.

Most likely some unsupported JavaScript causing this issue. Disable the java script and see if it helps.

    Dear masterprogrammer200

This might seem like a long shot but is it possible that your forms contain DOM manipulation.

I once had similar issues at a customer that diminished after getting rid of all the DOM manipulation code.

    Kind Regards

    Hi,

Check is there any JavaScript is using on your quick create form.

If yes, disable them and try again.

if the error is gone, you have to check your javascript code.

    Thanks
