CRM Cleanse

Hi All,

I am looking to freshen up the data in my company's CRM (Dynamics 2013) but would like some advice on the following before I begin:

1. Inside/Outside CRM?

- Is it best to fix outside of CRM (Excel) and then re-import and update records or best to work within the platform?

2. What things should I look for (that aren't plain to see)?

- I can fix simple issues like homogenizing "USA", "US" & "United States" for Country entries. I will check email addresses, phone numbers, company names but what should I be looking for beyond that? what are the key drivers to revenue behind a clean CRM?

3. How long will the process take?

- I have a database of 10,000 contacts, roughly. Realistically, how long can this take to fix to be in a "good" position.

4. Materials/Software

- What useful materials/software/guides are out there that can assist?

Regards & Thanks,

Maintaining data is a requirement for CRM and it does include data management tools such a duplicate detection, Merge, and excel export / import tools to perform bulk edits, There are also data cleansing services that work by syncing your crm data via the API to a sever that performs a cleanse operation and updates the record but this is mainly for addreses etc. Once you have clearly defined the fields and objects that require to be cleansed you will be in a better situation, as you will need to measure the impacts of business critical operations by the changes?

Let me know if I can help further?

    Hi,

If you have knowledge of SSIS you could use Kingsways SSIS CRM connector:

    http://www.kingswaysoft.com/products/ssis-integration-toolkit-for-microsoft-dynamics-crm

Using SSIS would let you grab the data and perform translations on it and write it back to CRM all in one step.

    Regards

    Bharat
