Recently I assigned a check to one period and then had to void it, and voided it to a different and incorrect period then it was originally posted to. It is throwing off some of our balance and aged Ap reports. Was wondering if there is a way to fix this? I tried to change the period in General Ledger under initialization mode, but it wouldn't let me do it.

The void check screen defaults to the current AP period so it sounds like the user did not change the posting period back to the same period as the check was posted to. In many cases, you do not want to change the posting period back. In particular, if GL has been closed to the period the check was cut, you would not want to back-post the void.
You cannot change the posting period on a batch once it has been posted (P status) even in initialize mode because the dollar have already hit the specified posting period in the accthist table that drives the GL.
If GL is still open to the posting period of the original check, you can run a set of update queries on the AP side to change the posting period and make some GL journal entries to move the dollars from the current period to the original check's posting period. I can provide those queries if you want to do this. I cannot tell from your post whether GL has been closed for the check's posting period. In general, it is not suggested you mess with posting period on posted batches. Further, if you are using Bank Recon or Cash Manager, changing a posting period like this has further implications.
