Error posting credit memos in Dynamics GP 2010

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a process through scribe that enters in credit memos. When we try to post the receivables batch we get an error indicating a data entry error. Printing the transaction edit list I get the errors "The accounts receivable distribution(s) does not equal the actual amount" "The withholding distribution(s) does not equal the actual amount". Would anyone be able to assist where the scribe process may have missed entering something?

After reviewing the mapping again we were passing through a write off amount and a pps amount that did not have accounts assigned to them. Once we removed these mappings as they are not needed the transactions posted fine.

Once you integrate a transaction ( a Scribe one) open the distribution window and check the type dropdown for (second field on the a scrolling line) each type.  You should have RECV for the receivable credit and CRMEMO for the credit line.

Sounds like that mapping to that field through Scribe is set to a different value.

What we have noticed is that when we do a manual credit memo entry the account number does not pull through for sales we have to manually enter it. However the scribe process is setup to put this number in and when we look at the transaction it is filled in.

I am not familiar with Scribe tool. I think, you are missed some mapping for distribution accounts. Check all your field mapping.

    Hope this helps!!!

Thank you for your timely response. As for the sample manual transaction it posts fine. As for the scribe process it maps the accounts for the distribution and the transaction looks the same as the manual transaction.

Its seem like some of your transactions having unmatched distribution. Open the transactions and click the distribution button to check whether it having proper accounts mapped.

Before checking scribe mapping, manually create a sample transaction in GP to check whether it bring the default distribution accounts.

    Hope this helps!!!
