    Hi Alaa,

Try to put re-order the custom entity of yours into the first position, instead of Dashboard.

Using the Sitemap editor, easier, you can use Arrows to put more up or move down, pull out and move the custom entity position to the top one under Sales

    xrmtoolbox.codeplex.com/.../116287

I tried in my environment and it worked just because of the first position replacing the Dashboard position.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    AlaaMoh,

Download the sitemap editor please, it's a part of xrmtoolbox

    http://xrmtoolbox.codeplex.com/

    Then go to Sitemap Editor

Before that you need to connect to your Organization and then Load the sitemap.

Now, my example here I want to make my custom entity (Project) to become default entity once first landing and I click Sales here, instead go to Dashboard, I want to go to Project.

    sitemapdefault1.png

just go to sitemap editor and then put the project in the first position under Sales area.

    Save and update, publish.

Then once I click Sales, by default, at the very first, I will be redirected to the Project because of its position, not Dashboard.

But, it will only for the first login, let say you move from Project o Account, currently in Account then in the same session you click Sales, it will go to Account (last position) because CRM saves this last position.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

    Hi AlaahMoh,

Are you using CRM 2013 or above?

If yes, I won't suggest you to change the Site Map using XrmToolBox as mentioned. Rather CRM 2013 has a cool functionality shipped with it.

Every user can set their own default of Landing Area and Section. Meaning that no need of modifying the Site Map.

To implement that, you need to move as below on your screen.

Click on the Settings Gear on the Screen-> Click on Options-> General Tab

This cool feature gives power to every user to define their Landing Page whenever they login.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hi Mithilesh,

With all of my respect, I think you should read again the question..

    AlaaMoh89 asked: "

is there any way to set my custom entity as a default entity for the Sales section

i mean once Sales is clicked, instead of dashboards go directly to a specific entity

    Thanks "

He was trying to make his custom entity as the very first entity appearing once he selects the Sales section, not make another Area as the Landing Page once he first time login.

Of course I did know that feature, but I didn't recommend that because it was not what Alaa was trying to refer, this cool feature will be useful if he wants to make his preferred Landing Page once first time login like what my friend describe in his useful post:

    https://andz88.wordpress.com/2014/04/28/set-dynamics-crm-settings-as-default-landing-page/

And his post very clearly said those steps because his purpose is he wants to go to the Settings directly once first login, because at he is the Administrator or Customizer or Developer at that time, instead of he goes to the Sales, then CRM --> Settings and so on why not he is going directly to the Settings as his landing page. So this is the purpose of Landing Page.

So, okay, now, my question, if it is a good solution of our friend, Alaa's question.

Can we get what he needs (once he clicked Sales, he goes to the custom entity directly, instead of Dashboard) when he is now in the Settings or Case (Service), then he clicks the Sales button, will he be redirected to the Custom Entity he needs, not to the Dashboard, without re-ordering the position and swap it?

In fact, Sales section is the current landing page, current CRM out of the box landing page, why he needs to change the setting if his purpose is only to make the Sales as the landing page? Why you suggest the solution that CRM has provided to him if you suggested to make a landing page.

So, everytime he login to CRM, in fact he is in the Sales, so any settings he needs? I don't think so if his purpose to make his landing page.

My other question, what if he wants to make his another custom entity to be the first entity appearing once he wants to click Service or Marketing? Which is currently all is going to Dashboard.

The default landing page is a good solution to shortcut very first login, but only can afford one condition what if our friend wants to make his other custom entities for other Area?

And again, he is using CRM 2013, no need to ask back again, see his tags first, next time.

Thank you for trying a correction here.

    Hi Aileen,

With due respect, you should also consider reading the Question once again

is there any way to set my custom entity as a default entity for the Sales section

i mean once Sales is clicked, instead of dashboards go directly to a specific entity.

The motive is simple, to get the Custom Entity as the Default Landing Page when the Sales Area is clicked. By Default it is Dashboard.

It has never been asked to make the Custom Entity as the First Entity in the Sales Area. (The solution which you provided)

CRM 2013 has given us the feature to define your own Landing Page based on the area you work most. Therefore you can set that using the Option from Settings Gear icon (Top most right).

    For example if

    • User A is a System Customizer and his majority of time is spent on the System Customization, he could set his own landing page.
      • He can go to the Options from Settings Gear Icon (Top most right) -> Options -> General Tab -> Default Pane (Set to Settings) -> Default Tab (Set to Customizations or Solution)
    • User B is a Customer Service Representative and his majority of time is spent on tracking Cases, he could set his own landing page
      • He can go to the Options from Settings Gear Icon (Top most right) -> Options -> General Tab -> Default Pane (Set to Service) -> Default Tab (Set to Cases)
    • User C is a Sales Person and his majority of time is spent on managing Leads or Opportunities, he could set his own landing page
      • He can go to the Options from Settings Gear Icon (Top most right) -> Options -> General Tab -> Default Pane (Set to Sales) -> Default Tab (Set to Leads or Opportunities)

I have a simple question, if every user comes up with a different requirement, saying that he needs another Entity to be defaulted when he clicks on Sales area, are we going to keep changing the Site Map (moving the Entity to the first place using XrmToolBox, or use the existing cool feature to ask the client to set their own desired default.

Once again to reiterate "Every user can set their default", so it covers a larger perspective than modifying the Site Map using XrmToolBox.

Another thing, thanks for drawing my attention on Tags, however I don't consider it being wrong to verify :-)

    I hope that makes sense.

    Thanks

    Hi Mithilesh,

Please read again the question, our friend here ask how :

i mean once Sales is clicked, instead of dashboards go directly to a specific entity, not

i mean first time login, instead of dashboards go directly to a specific entity.

"I have a simple question, if every user comes up with a different requirement, saying that he needs another Entity to be defaulted when he clicks on Sales area, are we going to keep changing the Site Map (moving the Entity to the first place using XrmToolBox, or use the existing cool feature to ask the client to set their own desired default."

You also didn't answer my question before about default entity for each section.

I don't know what is your point put every user can set their default since the point here is answering the question of our friend here to go to the entity once Sales section clicked.

    You said:

Once again to reiterate "Every user can set their default", so it covers a larger perspective than modifying the Site Map using XrmToolBox.

Every user can set their default, so what?? It means every user can set their own landing page, right? That's pretty cool feature and I agree. But, again I ask you, "Did our friend here ask how to set landing page?"

And as we know CRM sitemap can also work together with security role, this is so far I know, I don't know in yours.

Modifying sitemap and set default landing page are totally different.

And modifying sitemap here is the only solution to answer this question to make an entity as the default entity once a section is clicked so far I know, set default landing page is another method to set the default landing page.

And I see here: The motive is simple, to get the Custom Entity as the default entity once click Sales section, not as default landing page once landed or first time login. I think we should know what the difference is.

I just try to answer this question to the point and don't want to tackle anyone, and it is based on what he asked not how to bend what he asked just to get the verified answer.
