Help need to configure SSS in CRM2016 - OnPremise

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hey guys i was working on SSS from last couple of days and its not working. I am new to configure SSS in CRM and i have never worked on it before.

Do we need to have email router to send emails from CRM or SSS will work in CRM2016 On-Premise environment?

CRM2016 On-Premise - Version 8.1.1.1005

We are using ADFS for internal claim authentication we have not created external as our users dont access CRM from internal.

Exchange - Onpremise

Port 25 is enabled in Fronend and backend servers of CRM as we just want outgoing functionality.

Email Server Profile Config:

Mailbox Settings:

This always shows as this mailbox is disabled for outgoing processing. I have approved email test and enabled the mailbox nothing is working.

When i click alerts and i see nothing it there. Do we need to enable these alerts manually in CRM?

Please guide me in correct direction.

    Hi Eswaranatha,

I am not getting Test Connection option in CRM2016. I tried using port 25 and outgoing protocol as Basic and got the below error.

    >Error : System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Server does not support secure connections.

If you do a test and enable of the mailbox, you will be able to get a detailed error message on why it's not enabled.

And I would also check if the SMTP profile is set-up properly, do you get a button called Test Connection at the top ribbon menu of the Server Profile?

if you do have this button, could you click and go through the steps and see if CRM is able to communicate with the mail server

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

No, you don't need email router for SSS. Did you check this article: docs.microsoft.com/.../connect-to-pop3-or-smtp-servers

    Hope this helps.
