item creation with serial number with out inventory for service management

HI,

i want to create items with serial number which to be used  in service management for reference but my inventory should not get effected . Example (i sold item A with serial number 1115,10 years back and these transactions are not there in Ax ,now we want to give service to these items) please suggest me how to create items with out effecting inventory .

in service objects i can get items only from item master. now i want to create items with serial number which should not reflect to my inventory.

    You can create serial numbers through Inventory Managment/Inquiries and Reports/Tracking Dimensions/Serial Numbers. Creating a serial number here does not affect your on-hand inventory and allows you to use the serial number on a service object. Otherwise you could also use the "Reference" field to track your serial number on the serviceobject relation with the specific serviceorder or argemeent.

    If the items are not in AX then create the new service item with the serialized tracking dimension.
