Update Sandbox Database With Live - CRM 2013

Hi there,

I've recently started using CRM and have noticed that our Sandbox/Dev Database is out of date with our Live Database. It doesn't look like it's been updated for some time.

I would like to take a backup of Live and restore into our Sandbox/DEv Database so both are in sync for going forward.

Coming from a Dynamic NAV background, I'd simply backup Live and restore into Sandbox/Dev, simple. Is it the same procedure with CRM 2013? We are using the on-premises version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    It is actually pretty straight forward with On-Prem. You can simply take one database of an organization copy it to your sandbox/dev sql server restore it there. Once the database is there use the Deployment manager on the Back End Services server to import the database. The only tricky part is if there different domains you'll have to remap users that you want to have access. Good luck!

    Do you have links to the procedure so I can follow them?

    Hello WeeGrafter;

    This is for 2011 but the exact same steps apply: srmscrm.wordpress.com/.../how-restore-the-mscrm-organization-databases-on-the-new-computer-that-is-running-sql-server

    After restoring the database it's important to go to the backend server of your Sandbox/Dev server and use the Deployment Manager.

    I'd even say for the import process after the SQL database is restored this would be pretty close (even though its 2015) www.c-sharpcorner.com/.../steps-to-import-organization-database-in-ms-dynamics-crm-201 .

    Good luck Wee; if you have any other questions around this please feel free to ask sometimes the first time with this type of operation can be quiet daunting but once you do it once you'll be a pro!

    Cheers
