How can I disable all the running COM Objects with RMS POS?

Hi,

I am looking at an RMS 2.0 installation which used to have RMSynergy installed. The owners have removed Synergy as they no longer had any installation discs for the package.

Now, when opening/using RMS/POS, there are multiple errors and nothing much works anymore.

I think that this may be resolved if we can somehow stop RMS from trying to load all the RMSynergy COM modules?

Errors:

ERROR -2147217865 Invalid Object name `dbo.drdbversionhistory`

Attempt to execute COM Object failed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Paul

Many thanks. Obviously both ideas were in the same area so I have marked both as correct.

I do have another problem now if you can help?

The problem at the moment is that there is an error that there is no printer or cash drawer attached.

We have an Epson TM-T88IV connected to till via parallel to serial connection. The Cash Drawer is running in parallel with Receipt printer.

I have tried to add the printer using Epson OPOS but failed when trying to test the connection.

Also tried to add the printer as a windows printer using the advanced printer driver 4 which installs and creates an LPT1 port, but although listed in printers and faxes within windows, the error says no connection. I also tried to add the printer as a serial port COM1 but the same problem within Windows.

I have a few screenshots of error and Epson OPOS Tree if this helps

The fastest way to disable all the hooks is to change the Count value to 0.  This value is located in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Retail Management System\Store Operations\Hooks key.  Restart POS after change the count and the plug-ins should be disabled.

Many thanks for the ideas. I am not back on site until Thursday, so will try it then and update you.

Edit the registry and remove the hooks related to RMSynergy - start - run - regedit - ok - hkey local machine - software - microsoft - retail management system - store operations - hooks

** Careful you edit the registry correctly - you may want to backup the registry first just in case ***

restart the machine and start POS - see if that resolves it....Hope this helps.
