Hi,

I did the AOS restart. It is not starting. I noticed that the database is not accessible.

When i click the database in the SQL server management studio, i am getting the error message "The database dbname is not accessible. (ObjectExplorer)"

Thanks,

Hari

    Hi

Check if you and the AOS Service Account have the proper rights on AX Databases.

Go through the Installation guide in order to verify the proper rights

I also suspect the same permission issue.

same system admin (ax admin) has been locked out. seems your default database has been set to one, for which user does not have permissions.,

you may kindly try to login on SSMS using sa and perform a checklist given innext url

    Hi Denis,

Could you please tell me that AOS service account should have the sysadmin rights for AX database?

    Thanks,

    Hari

    Hi

    From the Installation Guide :

Make the account a login on the database server. (This login already exists if you are installing on the same SQL Server computer as the first database.)

    b. Assign the user to the db_ddladmin, db_datareader, and db_datawriter database roles.

    c. Grant the user execute rights on the createserversessions and createusersessions stored

    procedures

Is the database by any chance showing (Recovering...) in SSMS?

  • Hariharans87 Profile Picture

Yes. I noticed that it is displayed as dbname (in recovery) in the SSMS.

Well, one thing that this can mean is that the SQL server was also restarted and it's just bringing the database up. Now, if everything is ok, you should be able to use it shortly (depending on how big it is). I would suggest wait some time and then do a refresh in SSMS and see if it's still in Recovery. If it's not, you're good to go. If still, you need to look further more into possible reasons.

Also make sure that on the SQL instance you have added yourself AND the AXSysAccount (the account the AOS runs under)......you may not have physical access to that db, especially if someone ran the install under admin login and now you are logging in as yourself.....get someone to add under permissions in SQL db

    Hi Ilulian,

The SQL server was not restarted.

Could you please let me know in which case the AX database is going to recovery mode?

    Thanks,

    Hari

    Hi Brain,

Sorry. I could not understand your point. Could you please explain clearly?

    Thanks,

    Hari
