Hi,

I have a few legal entities which share the same COA and financial dimensions.

Some of the financial dimension values should be entity specific and should only appear in a specific legal entity. These dimension values should not be available for selection in other legal entities when processing sub module transactions such as a sales order.

I have tried to make the financial dimension value company specific in the financial dimensions setup by selecting companies in the "Select the level of dimension value to display". However, this only affects general journals, I can still select the incorrect value on a sales order and only when posting does it validate the dimension value.

I don't want the user to see the incorrect dimension values from the selection in a sales order for instance.

I have also tried linking an organizational hierarchy to the account structure but again found this only affect general journals and not sub module.

Can someone please assist?

Hi,

Have you tested making use of a company financial dimension and specifying the other allowed financial dimensions through the account structure form?

Thank you for the response.

Specifying the other allowed financial dimensions through the account structure form limits the dimensions on a general journal. The problem is that it doesn't affect what dimensions can be selected on a PO for instance.

Dear Mathew,

Yes, you are right there is no way we can restrict Financial Dimension Values appearing on the forms other than Journals e.g. Sales Order, Purchase Order or Customer / Vendor etc.

However, there are two options to restrict the Dimension values company wise i.e. By:

Suspending the dimension value for a specific company from the Financial Dimensions Form

Configuring Account Structure Financial Dimensions Wise

This will restrict the posting of a transaction if a suspended dimension is selected on Sales Order or Purchase Order form.

@Faheem, yes the posting can be limited but not the selection of the fin dims which causes unnecessary work for the users.

@magic1949 I'm not familiar with the security in AX but will escalate to our security consultant and ask he's opinion and let you know.
