Reviews about Dynamics CRM 2016 for Outlook

How many of you are using CRM 2016 for Outlook and what is your feedback about it?

We haven't had good experience with the older versions of the Outlook client and it always used to have performance issues, crashing etc.

So I would you like to hear about this version from you, I would personally prefer to use the Lightweight CRM for Outlook App, however it is having issues. MS acknowledged that only the users from the highest business unit are able to use it currently and it is solved in the next roll up update for CRM 2016/Dynamics365

We are Currently on CRM 2016 Online Update.

    We've been using it since CRM 2013 (currently 2016 SP1 on prem) and have never had a good experience - we still have performance issues on a daily basis (outlook freezing\crashing).

    Unfortunately, the client is the only way for users to track emails so we have no choice but to put up with the issues (it certainly keeps the helpdesk busy!).

    Have you got any more information about the issues with the CRM Outlook App? Why are only certain users able to use it currently?

    Hello Ray,

    Thanks for the reply. "Tracking" is an option on the CRM Outlook App as well. As per my experience CRM Outlook App is a very easy to use App without any kind of performance issues. Because of the issue mentioned below we are unable to use it. We will have to wait for the rollup fix to get this resolved or else live with the Client.

    Currently only the users in the highest (root) Business unit are only able to use the App. Please find below the extract from the MS reply on the support case I raised:

    ==============================

    Regarding our case, the issue is that the user is not appearing on the Eligible Users list for the Outlook App.

    I think that this is happening because there is a product defect where users from child Business Units do not appear under CRM App for Outlook eligible user list.

    This issue was corrected recently and is now being fixed as part of the next update rollup that is due to come out this quarter.

    As you said, you are planning the update to Dynamics 365 directly, unfortunately this issue is also present there and it is being fixed in the next update rollup due to come out at the same time as the one for the 2016 version.

    As part of the process, I am providing you with a copy of our scope agreement for your issue.

    Hope it helps
