Not able to re-enable disable user in CRM online

Greetings -

We are using CRM online through Dynamics 365.  I have a disabled user that I want to re-enable.    Thought it would be simple but after checking his record, I'm not finding the Enable button in the action toolbar - or even the toolbar itself    There's a tool bar with many things, but nothing about enable/disable.

Any help would be appreciated...

We just had the same issue - and solved it by creating a flow that explicitly activates that user (update row on table systemuser).
We created the flow, run it once, and deleted it again.

    Hello Paul,

Try to change the value of the Status column, in the user table through Power Apps, select the option to edit data in excel in the Data option.

The user must have a license.

    Follow this steps:

    1. Open power apps with the correct environment.

    2. From the left menu, select Data - Tables.

    3. Search for the User table.

    4. Select Data from the Horizontal menu, then select Edit Data in excel.

    5. Open the file, search for your user, and change the value of the field Status, to Enable.

    Regards,

    Andres V

I tried all the options mentioned, but no luck. Is there any other way to get user enabled.

RE: Not able to re-enable disable user in CRM online

    Hi Paul1204,

The Enable/Disable button is no longer available for Dynamics 365 Online versions as its controlled by the Office 365 admin centre. Within this centre, to enable or disable a user account in Dynamics, you can add or remove a Dynamics 365 product license (provided one is available to assign). If you are enabling a user, make sure that one of the following roles is given or considered:

    a) User (No administrator access)

    b) Global administrator

    c) Customized administrator

    (Roles in Office 365: https://support.office.com/en-US/client/results?Shownav=true&lcid=1033&ns=O365ENTADMIN&version=15&omkt=en-US&ver=15&services=EXCHANGE_S_FOUNDATION%2cPOWERAPPS_DYN_P2%2cFLOW_DYN_P2%2cNBENTERPRISE%2cSHAREPOINTWAC%2cSHAREPOINTENTERPRISE%2cSHAREPOINT_PROJECT%2cPROJECT_CLIENT_SUBSCRIPTION%2cDYN365_ENTERPRISE_P1%2cBI_AZURE_P2%2cBPOS_S_TODO_2%2cFORMS_PLAN_E3%2cSTREAM_O365_E3%2cDeskless%2cFLOW_O365_P2%2cPOWERAPPS_O365_P2%2cTEAMS1%2cPROJECTWORKMANAGEMENT%2cSWAY%2cINTUNE_O365%2cYAMMER_ENTERPRISE%2cRMS_S_ENTERPRISE%2cOFFICESUBSCRIPTION%2cMCOSTANDARD%2cEXCHANGE_S_ENTERPRISE%2cBI_AZURE_P0&HelpID=O365E_AssignAdminRoles)

If you have applied a product license to an existing office 365 user, it can take some time (2 minutes +) for that user to be enabled in Dynamics 365, unfortunately it doesn't take effect immediately all the time.

With online, users are no longer manually managed from within the instance(s), these tasks can only take place from within the admin centre.

For a more comprehensive look into managing user accounts in Dynamics 365 and Office 365, please have a look through the following: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/admin/create-users-assign-online-security-roles

    Hi Paul,

Can you try remove all licence (after removing give some time ) and re assign back. It might take some time to sync  with Dynamics 365.

    Thanks

RE: Not able to re-enable disable user in CRM online

    Hi There,

Very recently I had the similar problem.

I disabled few users few months ago, and now suddenly I cannot find the Enable/Disable button any more.

But I figured out the solution by adding Users (only Licensed Users) the Security Group.

    • If you have already Security Group added in your Dynamics Instances then add or remove users from the security group to enable or disable the users.
    • If you don't have the security group added then please add a new security Group.
      • You can create a Security Group in the O365 Admin Portal Under Groups then Add Group.

Below I have explained the process to add security group to Dynamics Instances.

    1. Go to Office Portal Admin Centre and click on Dynamics 365
      Select_5F00_Instance.PNG
    2. Then Click on the Instances, Select the Instance where you want to Enable or Disable the user and Click on Edit.
      Select_5F00_Instance.PNG

    3. Then Add the security Group.

  • RE: Not able to re-enable disable user in CRM online

    Hello Paul,

I suggest you to open a ticket for Microsoft support and verify if can run user sync tasks that can enable this synchronization. CRM Online uses AD GUID and WindowsLiveID to sync licenses with O365 if there is no relationship between IDs and Licenses it will not possible to enable these users.

Verify that you don't have Security groups or AD configuration where you need to add your users in O365 because this could block license synchronization.

As workaround if it is not possible to force license sync for your users in CRM Online I recommend you to create new users in O365 portal and then do register assignation.

If new users are not synchronization in CRM Online you will need to create a ticket for Microsoft support and they could force synchronization for new users.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

Thanks - I had thought of that and found he didn't.   But it's the same thing after I assigned a license.

Hi, have you checked the portal first if this user still has a license assigned.

    1. Go to portal.office.com

    2. search for name

    3. check if user has license assigned.

    4. Assign crm product license to user

    that might help.
