Multiple Accounts in Trial Balance - Not using range

Posted on by 70

I was wondering if it was at all possible to have a specific set of accounts to be pulled on the detailed general ledger without having to use the range feature? For example if i wanted the 167301 account for a certain accting unit as well as the 443100, but not everything in between as the range feature would give you, is there a way to do that? thanks

    Unfortunately, that has always been the concept of Dynamics GP. It considers that the Chart of Account has been well designed in terms of segments in a way that best serves financial reporting. Consider how reports are designed in FRx and Management Reported, the smarter the segmentation .. the greater the added value for financial reporting.

    This concept is not only limited to financials, it also encompasses the other definition entities in other modules such as items, vendors, customers ...etc

    Therefore, the best practice for a businesses is to chart their design of Accounts Segments, Vendor IDs, Items and Customers smartly. For instance, most of the businesses uses the following serial in order to distinguish among their Local and International Customers;

    • LOC_00001 | Local Customer
    • INT_00001   | International Customer

    In order to come up the ranges restriction, you could build up a customized report for a detailed trial balance and publish it on Crystal Report or SSRS. In this essence, you could customize filtration tools to serve your needs.
