Task Status(System Defined fields) value How to reflect in Account Form Grid(Custom field)

Hello Experts,

I have a task grid on account form.I have used a custom field-option set for Activity Status with values Open Cancelled Completed.If a value changes in option set ,user is allowed to change it within the grid itself,save the changes and once the Task form is opened the activity status is updated  at Task Form also as i have made a WF for this .It is working fine.

But what if I want that if anybody changes status on Task form then the same status should be reflected in Grid.Currently the Task form has System field for Activity Status so i am not sure how to do this?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Can you please explain more.On task Grid i have Activity_Status(option set field) field and Task form i have Activity Status(State Code field) field. I have written a workflow which updates statecode(Activity Status on Task Form) on change of grid's Activity Status option set field value change.But I am unable to do vise versa with WF.I have tried with Business Rule approach too but no luck.

    What you are suggesting ,Please explain in detail,pls.Because i am not aware which plugin where n how is triggered when an activity record status is getting updated.

    After changing the status to completed the record is visible but Activity_Status(custom field on grid) shows Open.This field is not updated.

    Is it possible that the view you have selected for the grid is showing only open activities hence the record is not visible?-Nothing like that

    You should set the custom status before the Task is getting completed, because the closed activities cannot be modified. You can intercept the preupdate plugin & set the custom status attribute in target entity itself.

    So after changing the ststua sto complete the record is not visible in the grid or the status is still showing as open? Is it possible that the view you have selected for the grid is showing only open activities hence the record is not visible?

    Hi Ravi,

    Earlier i had system field(statecode with Display Name : Activity Status) on Task Entity.This field was being used at Task form and within Task Grid on Account form.

    My requirement was that a user sould be allowed to make changes(Open/Canceled/Completed) in grid itself and once saved ;changes should be reflected at Main Task form and Vise versa.The Task form changes were reflected in the grid but grid was uneditable.This is the reason i created a custom status field on Task entity and used in Task Grid(Because you must be aware that statecode System field is uneditable).This helped me get the following result :

    Update within the grid was being reflected on Task form.

    But Now the problem is vise versa is not working.I already tried with Workflow but if i mark a task record as completed/canceled then changes are not reflected in the grid.I hope i could explain my problem.Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,

    Why do you have your custom status?

    If you have a workflow which updates your custom field on change of system status field then why can't you apply the same logic other way around i.e. on update of system status, update custom status?
