Transferring an Order to an Invoice with a PO without receiving PO

Hello,

I can't seem to find a way to do this, so I'm asking if anyone else has figured out a way.  All of our SOP Orders have PO commits .  How can we transfer our SOP Order to an invoice without receiving the PO first?  I thought drop ship PO's were the answer, however you still need to Enter/Match the invoice to get the items to transfer to a SOP Invoice.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Rita

When you commit sales orders to purchase orders you have to wait for the purchase order shipment receipt to occur. Once that happens GP will go off to all the sales orders committed to that PO and allocate the goods on the lines. Once that happens you can then transfer the order to an invoice. The other option is simply not to commit the SO to the PO. The whole point of the commitment process is to associate an incoming PO with an outgoing SO. This way it prevents you from invoicing something you do not have.

We have similar scenario where we commit service types of items. We would like to invoice customers way in advance without waiting for our vendors billing us. Is that possible?

    Thanks,

    Oleg.

The only way to transfer it would be to delete the PO link, allocate the line by overriding the shortage. I wouldn't generally recommend this.

Are you wanting to do this so you can send an invoice out before either ordering or receiving the goods from your suppler?

If so, I would suggest amending one of the reports in GP that you can print from a Sales Order (e.g. packing slip or one of the unused order documents) to be a proforma invoice and send that to the customer. Then when goods are received and allocated to the SO you can transfer to invoice.

We actually do everything drop ship and sometimes want to do the same thing.  There is a PSTL tool called 'Shipment Notification' that allows you to do this for drop ship orders.  It is a separate install from the regular PSTL install but it is still free.  You have to get it from your partner.  We are just testing it out now but I think it will do what you are looking for.

    Thanks

    Jennifer
