What is the difference between the 'status' and 'status reason' fields primarily on the Account entity?

Hi Jason,
Status is the overall state of the entity which the system uses to determine what form type to open when opening the record (e.g., Create, Update, Read-Only). Status Reason is a sub-category of Status to give the user more detail on what may have caused the entity to get to the current state. Status Reason is wholly dependent on Status, and in the Account Entity you can customize the list of Status Reasons that occur when a given Status is active.
Thanks for the comparison Alan! Just to clarify, if I wanted to limit a view or report to only active accounts I would only need to use Status as a filter?
Yes, that's right. If you have more than just "Active" for the options in Status Reason you may want to consider grouping by Status Reason with the filter on Status....
