Item reservation in Batch order

Dear All,

I am using AX 2012 R3 CU10.

1. I am using master planning module for requirement based FGs.

2. I run master scheduling, system generates Planned POs and Planned Batch orders which is OK.

3. I firm Planned batch orders. Then I firm Planned POs which is OK.

4. On PO creation, system reserved inventory in finishing warehouse (Recipe warehouse which is specified in BOM lines).

5. On PO invoicing in "Raw material warehouse", system reserved inventory in Raw material warehouse.

6. I have to transfer inventory from Raw material WH to Finishing WH and system does not allow me to do so because it reserved inventory already against batch order in finishing warehouse first and then in Raw material warehouse.

Without transferring inventory between warehouses, I cant proceed. All parameters of inventory reservation are not checked or Manual. How I can make system to allow me to transfer inventory between warehouses. I want system not to reserve inventory at the time PO creation and invoicing. I have to transfer quantity at any cost.

Thanks in Advance.

Prompt reply please. Thanks again.

Fahad.

It sounds like you have already checked these settings but just in case:

In the AR/AP parameter screens see what is checked there for reservation .

for your requirement this should be manual. Automatic reservation in AX means that when an order line for a product is entered, and there is available inventory within the requested inventory dimensions (site, warehouse, and any product dimensions if applicable), the system will automatically make a hard reservation for that inventory for the sales line. It will then be only available to pick for this particular sales line.  A reservation in Dynamics AX is a hard reserve. A hard reserve means inventory is locked for any other transactions.

    same for inventory.

In Master Planning parameters -> 'Standard update' tab, set 'Update marking' to No.

The next time you Firm a planned order, go to the 'Setup' tab and set 'Update marking' to No (each user that Firms planned orders should do this).

Hi Muhammad - In addition to magic's suggestions, you might want to also check if you're using marking when you firm the planned purchase orders. I had all of my reservation policies turned off when i was running master planning to suggest purchase orders to fulfill my sales orders and it was performing reservation as well.

To check this, go to one of your purchase orders/batch orders and click firm. When the infolog pops up, check if the "Update Marking" is setup to anything other than No. If it is, this might be your problem.

    Dear Katherine,

Thanks for the solution. The solution you proposed is looking same as Terry proposed above. It resolved my problem by the grace of GOD. But Update marking "No" works for raw material only. It does not work for Semi finished batch order at the time batch order firm. Semi finished good is Pegged supply in BOM lines. How I can remove reservation for Semi finished goods?

    Thanks in advance.

    Muhammad Fahad.

    Dear Terry,

    Your solution is perfect. Thanks.

Please guide for Semi finished good reservation removal. Semi finished good is pegged supply in BOM lines. (The same I have written below)

    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi Muhammad,

It is exactly the same! I didn't notice Guy's comment before me :)

Regarding your other question, the fact that your formula line is setup as "pegged supply" will always mark the semi-finished batch order against the finished batch order. If you want to remove this marking you will need to change your formula line to "item" instead. When master planning is run it will still suggest a planned batch order for the semi-finished good to accomodate the other one but they will not be marked against each other.

    I hope this helps.
