Users are now being presented with the Dexterity for Microsoft Dynamics GP - Print instead of the windows print dialog. They want the windows print dialog box because they say it offers a print preview that the dexterity print dialog does not. We still have on user that is getting the windows dialog box, the rest have changed. How do we set it so they get the windows box?
I literally just logged in to ask the same question!
We only have one user getting the Dexterity screen, and the only difference for that user that comes to mind is Windows 11. Not sure if a windows update caused this?
It is overriding our print settings for this particular user.
This window seems to be something that Windows 11 is doing now. I got a similar window but it was not called Dexterity for Microsoft Dynamics GP - Print. This has replaced the system print dialog.
If you don't want to see this window you can add NoPrintDialog=TRUE to the Dex.ini or change the setting via Named Printers. If using Named Printers it is recommended not to use the system print dialog (regardless of how it now looks).

It's a change that is done on Windows 11 22h2.
The following discusses the change:

I did test the Command Prompt script mentioned in this article and it did change the Print Setup window back to what we're used to seeing, on my Dynamics GP 18.5/Windows 11 environment.
Thanks
Yes, this issue actually has caused problems for us because that new print window will often stop with "Something Went Wrong" and then we end up with incomplete postings.
I did find this reg entry...
reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Print\UnifiedPrintDialog" /v "PreferLegacyPrintDialog" /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f
It worked on our CFO's PC but not his data entry clerks PC. Ran as Administrator and still won't bring up the old print box.
Can confirm reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Print\UnifiedPrintDialog" /v "PreferLegacyPrintDialog" /d 1 /t REG_DWORD /f worked for us.
Thank you very much!
Tested the command prompt script on my computer and it does work, I will start working on the staff's computers. Thanks!
The fix will be included in GP Power Tools next week and will be available when the next build is released.
David
Excellent News...can you post a link to the Power Tools when it is released next week? I so need to get this fixed ASAP.
Hi Brian
You would be able to download the beta build once it is done, but I won't be releasing it publicly until I have finished all the fixes and tweaks planned for build 29.5.
I would suggest using the command line option in the article for now.
Even once in GPPT, you will still need to run GP as Administrator to allow it to be able to edit the registry.
It will just make it easy to fix as you won't need to know the registry setting or commands. Just like GPPT has the fix for the DPI scaling issues.
Here's the crazy thing...I ran the registry change on his PC, as Admin, started GP as admin and still shows the "newer" print window. Can't seem to get it to take on his PC.
